Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026

The short version: This app has no traditional account and no servers of our own. Your wheels, check-ins, history, and notes live on your device and sync only through your own private iCloud, which we cannot access. If you allow it, the app reads a few activity, heart, and sleep figures from Apple Health to keep one area of your wheel up to date — read-only, on your device, never used for ads. If you connect with someone, only the information you choose to share is shared — and only with the people you choose. The free app shows third-party ads, which collect limited device data to display ads, gated behind a consent prompt, and it includes Google's Firebase Analytics, which measures app usage — never your wheel content. Because the app uses iCloud-synced content, sharing, ads, and analytics, its App Store privacy label is not “Data Not Collected.”

Who we are

Seize Life — listed on the App Store as "Seize Life," subtitled "Wheel of Life," and called "the app" throughout this policy — is an Apple-platform application published under the Carpe Diem umbrella. It is a reflection and wellness tool built around the classic Wheel of Life exercise. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. You can reach us any time at hello@rota-vitae.com.

No account

The app has no traditional account or sign-up. You don't create a username or password with us, and we don't maintain a user profile on any server we operate. Your identity, where it exists, is your own Apple Account, handled by Apple.

Your wheels, check-ins, and history

The content you create — the areas on your wheel, your ratings (1–10) at each check-in, your history of wheels over time, your Wheel Scores, and any reflection notes or goals — is created and stored on your device. We, the developer, do not receive or store this content on servers of our own.

iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, the app syncs your wheels, check-ins, history, and settings through your own private iCloud (a CloudKit private database tied to your Apple ID). This keeps your data consistent across your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. This data lives in your private iCloud, is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and is accessible only to you on your own devices. We, the developer, cannot access it. If you are signed out of iCloud, the app stores everything locally on your device only.

Apple Health

The app can read a small amount of data from Apple Health to keep the Health & Fitness area of your wheel in sync, so that one spoke stays honest without you rating it by hand. This is optional. iOS asks for your permission first, you choose which categories to allow, and you can turn it off at any time with the Use Apple Health switch in the app's Settings, or withdraw access entirely in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

When you allow it, the app reads only these categories:

Access is read-only. The app never writes anything back to Apple Health. (When an app links Apple Health, Apple requires it to declare a write permission alongside the read permission, so you may see one listed; the app does not use it.)

These readings are used for exactly one purpose: to work out a single 1–10 rating for your Health & Fitness area. That calculation happens on your device. The underlying Health data is never copied off your device and never reaches us — we have no servers of our own to send it to. It is not written into your iCloud sync, and it is not part of what you share with a connection: the Wheel Score the app syncs and shares is deliberately calculated without the Apple Health value, so your Health readings are never exposed to anyone you share a wheel with. Only the resulting 1–10 rating is mirrored to your own widgets and your own paired Apple Watch. Your Health data is never used to target or personalize ads, never given to advertisers, and never sold or shared with any third party.

Connections and sharing

Connecting with other people is entirely optional, and off until you start it. If you choose to use it:

You choose how much a connection sees. Each wheel has one sharing setting, which you can change or revoke at any time:

Your private notes are never shared, at either setting. The reflection notes you attach to a check-in or pin to an area stay between your own devices; they are stored separately from the wheel data that travels with a share, so a connection cannot receive them. Notes you write deliberately for a connection — in the Notes tab of a shared wheel — are a different thing, and those are visible to everyone that wheel is shared with.

People you connect with see what you've shared through their own copy of the app.

Advertising

The app is free and supported by third-party ads sourced from advertising networks (for example, Meta Audience Network) through a mediation platform (CloudX). Before personalized ads are shown, the app presents a consent prompt using a certified Consent Management Platform (InMobi CMP), and — where an ad provider would track you across other companies' apps and websites — iOS asks for your permission through App Tracking Transparency first. When ads are served, the ad provider's software may collect and process:

This information is handled under the ad provider's own privacy policy. We never share your wheels, check-ins, history, or notes with advertisers, and that content is never used to target or personalize ads. You can change your tracking choice any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Declining tracking does not remove ads; it limits ad personalization.

Analytics

The app includes Firebase Analytics (Google), which measures how the app is used. Unlike the advertising software described above, this one is ours — we chose it and we see its reports. It is on by default, and there is currently no in-app switch to turn it off.

What it measures is app usage, not your content. The app logs no events of its own: nothing about your wheel, your areas, your ratings, your check-ins, your history, or your notes is ever sent to it. What Firebase collects automatically is:

Consent is applied in layers. Analytics storage is enabled, while the three advertising-related signals — ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization — start denied and are granted only to the extent your consent choices allow, as resolved by the consent prompt and App Tracking Transparency. This information is handled under Google's privacy policy. We do not run a separate crash-reporting service.

Our App Store privacy label

Because the app relies on iCloud-synced content, optional sharing, analytics, and a third-party ad network, its Apple App Store privacy label is not “Data Not Collected.” The label discloses the categories described in this policy — primarily data collected for advertising and analytics, and identifiers used for connections and sharing.

Apple Health data is not declared on the label, because the label describes data that is collected — that is, transmitted off your device — and your Health data is only read and used on the device itself.

Deleting your data

Because we hold nothing, deletion here is mostly something you do rather than something you ask us for. There is no account to close, and no copy of your wheels, check-ins, history, or notes on a server of ours to erase — the copies that exist are the one on your device and the one in your own private iCloud.

Sharing is the part deletion cannot fully undo. If you have shared a wheel with someone, their device holds a copy of what you shared. Disconnecting from them in the app removes your wheel, and the notes you wrote on it, from their copy of the app on their next sync, and stops anything further reaching them. It cannot undo what they have already seen, written down, or taken a screenshot of; that is outside the app, and we have no way to reach into someone else's device.

Ads and analytics. The advertising and Firebase Analytics records described above sit with those providers, not with us, and are tied to device and app-instance identifiers rather than to your name. Deleting the app ends the app instance those analytics records are tied to; a reinstall starts a new one. You can also withhold or reset the advertising identifier in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you want the records a provider holds deleted, email hello@rota-vitae.com and we will put the request to them and tell you what came back. The honest limit is that we cannot pick you out of a report by name, so what we can do depends on the identifiers you are able to give us and on the tools those providers give us.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have rights over personal data about you. They apply here in an unusual shape, because there is no account and we hold no copy of your content: for most of them, the data is already in your hands, on your own device and in your own iCloud. The rights are:

How to exercise them. Email hello@rota-vitae.com. We will answer within one month, as the law requires. Because the app has no account, we usually cannot tell who you are or connect a request to any data — where that is so, we will say it plainly, and we will not build a record of you in order to answer. You never have to prove who you are to us to delete your own content: it is on your device and in your iCloud, and the steps are above.

Complaints. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU or EEA, you can complain to the data protection authority in your own country. You are welcome to raise it with us first, at the address above, but you do not have to.

What we don't do

Children

The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content, but it is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Not medical advice

The app is a reflection and wellness tool for thinking about balance across the areas of your life. It is not medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Your Wheel Score and trends are a self-reflection aid, not an assessment of your health.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the revised version at this address.
